How are you supposed to use The Original AtticBoard?
The Original AtticBoard is a portable platform for a person to bring up with them into an attic. It's intended purpose is to be laid down over the ceiling joists, so that a person can stand/sit/crouch on it and perform work, instead of balancing on the joists, and instead of brining up cumbersome lumber.
How do you move The Original AtticBoard around with you in the attic?
The Original AtticBoard has four handholds for a person to grab in any direction. The board can easily be picked up and moved, or slid around to move. Additionally, The Original AtticBoard functions even better in pairs - bringing two with you up in an attic, you are able to stand on one while moving the other where you need to go. However, the most ideal set up would be to set up 6-8 AtticBoards in the attic to function as a catwalk, so that you are only worrying about moving them around once.
Is The Original AtticBoard secured in place somehow - like screwed into the joists?
No, The Original AtticBoard is 100% portable and conveniently movable. Though other products on the market screw into joists or have "bumpers" to allow them to lock into joists, The Original AtticBoard does not function this way. Often when performing attic work, like installing insulation, being able to quickly move your safety platform to where you need it go is very important. If The Original AtticBoard required the user to stop, bend over and unscrew, that would not only be inconvenient but also unsafe. Also, if The Original AtticBoard had bumpers, the user would not be able to place it where they needed it to go - being limited in placing it only in the most square, and most open locations. The Original AtticBoard allows the user to create a platform in the most difficult locations - even near the soffits with a low-pitch roof.
How safe is The Original AtticBoard?
The Original AtticBoard is a much safer alternative to what most attic workers do - which is walk around on the ceiling joists, or walk around on flimsy plywood or thin lumber. Like with any attic work - working in the attic is inherently dangerous, so being aware of your surroundings, having ample light to see and other safety measures are critical to your overall safety. Creating this product has been very important to us, because one of the easiest ways to prevent an attic accident is to make sure you have a proper platform to stand on - The Original AtticBoard is a much more proper platform to the current standard. Here at AtticBoard, we recommend to all users of our product, that they use common sense, not step on the edges of the board in order to prevent tipping, and always make sure the board has joists under it to support it, as well as the board being positioned equally between the joists.
